Purpose Statement: To create dignified employment opportunities for guests with lived experience of food and/or housing insecurity within our programming, recognizing that true hunger justice is only possible when those most impacted by these systems are empowered to lead and shape the work.
The employment experience of each community member is unique to their specific needs and goals, but this timeline gives a general outline of our hiring process.
Employees are hired as FedUp program staff and support daily operations while receiving guidance in the development of soft skills. Specific responsibilities are different for each employee, but can include:
FedUp is committed to paying fair wages, and employees are compensated accordingly. Employees also receive individualized support and supervision in skill development outside of their assigned daily tasks. FedUp's pay range begins at $19.50/hr and increases based on the responsibilites given to the staff member. For example, drivers and key holders have more responsibility and will be compensated as such.

Since May 2022, over 50 unhoused, food insecure, and/or justice-impacted community members have been hired through our program.
Since beginning our employment program:
Over 15 staff members have gone on to get permanent and secure housing.
5 staff members have enrolled in college courses.
Over half of our staff have been promoted to full time positions, allowing new community members to work at FedUp.
