HUB Center Grand Opening

HUB Center Grand Opening

FedUp is a member of the HUB Coalition - a new collective of nonprofits serving the Eastern side of Washtenaw County. Join us for the HUB's grand opening as we celebrate the work Peace Neighborhood Center has done to create a new resource HUB in Sugarbrook.

Those of y'all who followed us in our early days might recognize this building. With lots of love and grant funding, the former St. Mark Lutheran Church (the church where Pastor Anna served as vicar during her seminary internship) has transformed into a new community center. This is resurrection, Church.

Mini Chef Camp

Mini Chef Camp

Consider hiring us to teach your little chefs! We work with children aged 3-17 on nutrition, measuring, knife skills, and more.

Welcome New Staff and Board Members

Tamara and Kieren have been on our team for a couple of months now, but we are excited to officially introduce them to you! We are also thrilled to introduce Pat, our newest board member!

Tamara

Tamara

Tamara has years of culinary experience, working with the University of Michigan and building a strong relationship with the unhoused community. She loves her dogs, her family, and her community here in Ypsi!

Kieren

Kieren

Hey, I'm Kieren (she / her) & I've been working here at FedUp the past few months! It's been energizing to work as part of a team that offers free meals to the community and I'm looking forward to keep on cooking with the FedUp crew.

Pat

Pat

I am the father of 3 incredible (adult) children. I  grew up in this area and later raised my kids here. I found myself homeless after a divorce. Delonis was not a good fit for me, and I was living in a tent or sleeping on sidewalks, porches, window wells, and parking garages. I  connected with The Daytime Warming Center and the folks at Mercy House, where I found community. Now I live at and help to run Peace House with my wife, Sheri, and our naughty pup Xena. I feel good about the work we do there and am especially proud of our work to start the pullover prevention events.  I am excited to be part of FedUp because I know the importance of community and so does FedUp. Maybe I can use what I learned about being homeless to help others.

Tax Season

Tax Season

Tax season is upon us! Did you know that everyone over the age of 73 must withdraw a required minimum distribution (RMD) from their retirement account every year? These required withdrawals are normally taxable, but become tax-free if they are paid directly from the account to a qualifying charitable organization. If you’d like to take advantage of tax-free qualified charitable distributions anytime in 2025, consider donating to FedUp and supporting our mission to meet people where they are, serve individuals with dignity, employ our guests, and advocate for systemic change! Reach out to Pastor Anna with questions.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our April volunteer schedule is live! We'd love your support in serving our community as we move into spring, so consider getting involved by signing up for volunteer opportunities below.

Zechariah 10:1

"Ask rain from the Lord in the season of the spring rain, from the Lord who makes the storm clouds, who gives showers of rain to you, the vegetation in the field to everyone."
